great suggestion, GAM. i was also thinking. does home depot have like a wrench that has the clamps lined with rubber? so i can just tighten stands (lightly of course) with that instead?
i'll do them rudiments, though. thanks
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Funny stuff, good laugh.(might as well have gone to the DMV instead) and they really had no explanation for it (probably more like they didn't want to do anything unless my intestines were hanging out my skin)...

Good Rule of Thumb [& 4finger]: don't over-tweak your wing-nuts & such to where you cause your fingers or hands pain. Not saying you do that; just stating in general. <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Imperative. Stretch [b4hand - practice or live], both arm & body: your wrists & forearms, AWA legs & back, & then do some singles, doubles, diddles, flams [& 5/7-strks & whatnot if desired] on pad for at least 20 to 30 min prior to playing gigs [with the Moehller/Grube/WECK rebound/fingers thing in mind ;c)]. warming up is something i should do more often.

Like DW said on one of his videos, don't stop practicing just 'cause one hand is laid up. Work on some one hand w/feet things to keep everything else in shape and possibly come up with some new ways to play and or think on the kit. When you're ready to go back to 2 hands you'll only have to rehab the one limb, not all 4.
Clark Terry learned to play trumpet with both hands so if anything happened to his right he would still have a career. He trades 4's with himself on trumpet and flugelhorn with this ability.
Take inspiration from Rick Allen.
Great post, RMT
Side note:
Virg, Marco, & Mang could prob break an arm AND a leg & still have no worries in the gigging dept... [but let's "hope & pray" that never happens]... /;c)
Absolutely, Chuch, that is what i do...either tighten to just the point immed aft resistance, or use a small pair of pliers & don't apply too much squeeze to your grip [just to the point of holding / gripping], & gently tighten to the same...the rubber-covered plier-tips sounds like a cool thing, I don't know if such an animal is out there, but prob is, these days...or those plasticy-polymer type "floating pliers" [if they're dropped in the water, they won't sink]...killer...I think they're usually marketed for boat or fishing / bait & tackle supply stores...check www.xtools.us - products - [floating pliers]...
Many years ago, with older hardware, I got into the bad habit of over tightening wing nuts [this can also occur when you have one of those old HH or SN stands - b4 you had the good stuff ;cp, where the stand strips out or starts creeping down ;c/]; until I got a Roland V-drum rack & busted four of those older orig plastic rack mounts at once; horrible painITA to replace, & expensive...learned my lesson WELL...for some stoopit reason, it never occured to my wittle bwain, "hey, those are cheap plastic, pal, NOT metal" ...a major music equipmt company wouldn't do that, NOOOOOOOO [also like DVader at new SWs/Sith end] ;c)
